Cat Lestyan was raised in Virginia Beach with a passion for the arts. As a child, she was drawn to the expressive storytelling of animated films and videogames, and these became muses for her illustrations. Growing up, her family home was filled with the many works of her late grandmother, including original scenes, still-lifes, and recreations of Monet and Van Gogh. These served as a mini museum providing Cat with inspiration and education. She would use any media that was placed in front of her from crayons, colored pencils, paint, and markers and enjoyed challenging herself to learn them even if it was difficult. Cat focused on attending visual arts classes and camps growing up and submitted her work to school art exhibits and art competitions. In high school she was commissioned to make paintings and logo designs and won three consecutive Excellence in Visual Arts awards.She also designed the cover of her school’s yearbook which made its way into the Walworth Gallery of Excellence. She was later accepted as a student at Virginia Tech in Creative Technologies, soon after adding on a minor in Organizational Leadership and earning a spot on the dean’s list for seven consecutive semesters. Cat strives to build a career in the animation or games industry and be a part of the storytellers that inspired her.
